Adidas is Selling Yeezy Footwear Again... Temporarily

Guess who’s back? Back again. Yeezy’s back, tell a friend. That’s right. The man we love to hate is temporarily returning to the limelight under the Three Stripes. After ending its partnership with Ye, Adidas was stuck with an overwhelming amount of unreleased Yeezy products. In an effort to avoid product waste and burning manufacturing costs, Adidas has decided to sell its remaining Yeezy inventory. During their recent annual shareholder meeting, Adidas CEO Bjorn Gulden outlined their plans. Gulden noted that the path to their decision to sell the product took them through meetings with several nongovernmental organizations. As many suspected, simply destroying the inventory was one of the proposed options. Ultimately, the Three Stripes saw the most benefit in selling off the merchandise. This decision only encompasses the existing, already manufactured Yeezy product. After selling this inventory, Adidas has not revealed any intentions of any future endeavors involving Ye. As per Ye’s contract with the Three Stripes, however, he will be entitled to a 15% commission on all goods sold. Given the rumored amount of remaining Yeezy products, this will spell a nice payday for Ye. Adidas is donating part of the proceeds of these sales to a variety of international organizations. Maintaining their stance against Ye’s rhetoric, these organizations will be those representing groups impacted by Ye’s stances. Adidas has not provided exact numbers, but one would imagine they don’t intend to pocket many proceeds from this clearance. Is Adidas making the right move? Let us know your thoughts below.
