Clot x Nike Cortez: Cop or Shop
We've been hearing whispers of an upcoming Clot collaboration since November. In December Edison Chen, Clot's founder, shared an on-foot picture of a Clot x Nike Blazer on his Instagram. Since then, we've learned more details about the shoe. The upcoming Clot x Nike Cortez is yet another example of Clot's fusion of eastern and western culture. Underneath the shoe's cover is a Cortez with a thin sole, reminiscent of traditional shoes worn in kung fu. Chinese calligraphy embroidered on the heels of the shoe even says, "kung fu". The shoe is expected to release in the Spring of 2023 with a retail price of $150.

The Proof Team Weighs In
Of course, as sneakerheads, our team has our own opinions about the shoe. Here's what the Proof team has to say about whether the Clot x Nike Cortez is a cop, or if they'd rather keep shopping.Rich

"I've never like the two-faced style designs. It looks like someone is wearing a protective cover over the shoe like we would wear bags over our shoes when we walked to school in the winter. I never liked the bags and I don't like these... I'll keep shopping."Erron

"These don't do anything for me at all."Omar

"While the Cortez is the holy grail for some, I'll have to shop. The secondary sleeve gives me rain boot vibe, not "these are fire" vibe. Are they unique? Absolutely, for a particular niche I am not a part of."John

"I know that the Cortez is a sneakerhead staple steeped in tradition, but I'm yet to find a pair I actually like. This pair is certainly unique, but not an exception."Cover Photo By: Edisen Chen
